It’s Thanksgiving Day and I definitely feel thankful! When I posted my need for Personal Care Attendant help during Christmas week on Facebook, I hoped it might help. Usually it generates prayers, but seldom practical offers. Still, I always appreciate prayer.
The Facebook post, to my surprise, bore a little fruit right away. A friend immediately offered Monday and Friday if needed. Someone else might also be available that Friday, which would be great. Okay, two days down. Thank You Lord!
Yesterday afternoon we received a call from a lady who is friends with one of my dearest friends from church. She’s available Christmas Day, which would have been especially difficult to fill. Praise the Lord — spending Christmas Day in bed did not appeal to me.
Michelle Lesley asked if she could share my Facebook post on her personal Facebook page. Frankly, I didn’t think it would do much good. Baton Rouge, Louisiana is a long way from Boston, Massachusetts! On the other hand, Michelle is a much bigger blogger than I. Maybe she actually could help.
Next thing I knew, one of my followers posted Michelle’s copy of my post on Twitter. Yeah, Twitter — that social media beast famous for abject negativity. Again, I thought the additional prayer support would be nice, but figured we’d just keep calling our usual friends (who have backed up my morning PCA a ridiculous amount of time in the last two years). Still, I was touched that my Twitter follower and Michelle Lesley wanted to help me.
During my prayer time this morning, a sweet sister in Christ called us. She’s been following me on Twitter for a while, and likes Saturday Sampler on this blog. She saw the tweet of Michelle’s Facebook post, and knows the assistant pastor of my church. She lives in a town near ours, and belongs to a like-minded church. She’s going to cover those two remaining days!
Yes, I’m grateful to Michelle Lesley! I’m also grateful to my friend who immediately offered to take Monday and Friday. I’m grateful to my dear friend from church who found someone for Christmas Day and to the lady who posted Michelle’s copy of my Facebook post on Twitter. I’m grateful to the women who haven’t met me, yet are willing to make sure I can enjoy Christmas with my husband at home. Thank you, sisters, for your love and support.
Most of all, I thank the Lord for His provision, especially bringing that call on the day dedicated to thanking Him. His faithfulness to use Michelle Lesley to bring the last puzzle piece astounds me. Surely, He is worthy of my thanks.
13 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death,
and burst their bonds apart.
15 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man! ~~Psalm 107:13-15 (ESV)
Praise God!
